1Name the softer feeling underneath the anger.
Before you speak, ask what you were afraid of, not what you were angry about. Usually it is something like: they are giving up on me, or I do not matter here. Say that instead.

Why it works. Anger and withdrawal are secondary emotions defending primary ones: fear, hurt, shame, loneliness. Secondary emotion reliably elicits defence in a partner; primary emotion elicits compassion.

Gentleness, the Prophet ﷺ said, beautifies whatever it touches. Ten quiet minutes are how you arrive gentle, instead of spending the day's tension on the people you love.
“By an act of mercy from God, you [Prophet] were gentle in your dealings with them- had you been harsh, or hard-hearted, they would have dispersed and left you- so pardon them and ask forgiveness for them. Consult with them about matters, then, when you have…”
Qur'an 3:159
“It was narrated from Aishah that the Prophet(ﷺ) said:"Allah is Gentle and loves gentleness in all things”
