The one about ingratitude

Someone tells you that sadness is a form of ingratitude. What has gone wrong in that sentence?
It puts two different kinds of thing in the same box. Shukr is a stance you take and a way you act, not an emotional temperature you have to keep above a line. Depression removes the capacity to feel pleasure, so an emotional test is exactly the test the illness makes you fail. Ya'qub grieved for years and nobody in the text calls him ungrateful.
