The screen again, at the other end

It is worth repeating here, because people who could not answer the list at the front honestly in lesson one sometimes can by lesson six.

If you are afraid of your spouse, if you change what you say to avoid a reaction, if you have been hurt or threatened, if money, movement or contact with other people is controlled, then joint therapy is not the first thing to look for, and the skills in this course are not for you.

Programmes that do run couple work where there has been violence exist, and they are supervised, screened, clinician led, in a room, and limited to couples with mild to moderate violence who both want to stay together, excluding repeat offenders. Even the best case for that work is nothing like a self help course, and this platform is not that room. What you want instead is a domestic abuse service, and the course called When home is not safe will point you towards one.
