An example

Yusuf and Hana argue about her mother roughly once a month. It has been going for nine years.

The content never changes. Her mother arrives without warning. Yusuf finds it rude. Hana says he is being cold about a woman who is seventy. Yusuf says he never gets to be in his own house. Hana says he has never liked her family.

Written down like that, it looks like a problem with a solution. It is not. It is two people who grew up in houses with different doors, and neither of them is wrong about doors.

What changes across the nine years is not the content. Early on it lasted twenty minutes and ended with one of them making tea. Now it starts faster, gets to the personal part sooner, and ends with Yusuf in the car for an hour.

The subject is identical. The shape has got worse. The shape is the thing this course is about.
