The parents who need this lesson most are almost never cruel. They are exhausted, isolated, doing it alone or nearly alone, often unwell, often frightened, and often carrying something nobody has ever asked them about. Cruelty is rare. Depletion is everywhere.

So read the next few screens as a list of things that need another person involved, rather than as a verdict on you. Getting help early is not an admission. It is the cheapest version of this available.
