A check
On this lesson, why does shouting need to get louder over time?
Because children get more badly behaved as they growBecause the child habituates, and more volume is the only adjustment the method allowsBecause parents get more tired every yearBecause it never worked in the first place
Not quite
It did work, which is why it stuck. What happens next is ordinary habituation: the level that used to produce a result stops producing it, and the only dial the method has goes upwards. That is the escalator. Tiredness is real and it is lesson five, but it is not the mechanism here, and blaming the child's character misses that the same thing happens to every parent who relies on volume.
