Nasreen could not tell you when it started, because nothing started.

Her husband did not like her friend Sara. He never said so. He said Sara was a bit much, and then that Sara had been rude to him, and then, when Sara rang, that it was strange she always rang at dinner. Nasreen stopped answering at dinner. Then she stopped mentioning that Sara had rung.

The bank card was about the overdraft, and it was sensible at the time. The location sharing was because of the car park at the hospital. The passwords were because of the thing that happened to his cousin.

Four years later she has one friend she sees twice a year, no money she can reach on a Tuesday, and she can tell you within a second of him walking in what kind of evening this is going to be.

Nobody hit her. If she listed the individual items to a stranger, each one would sound reasonable, and she knows it, which is exactly why she has never listed them.
