The rawness around rejection usually has a history. Ask an adult where it started and you tend to land on a childhood of being asked why they could not manage what everyone else managed.

That matters, because it means this was learned rather than fixed in you from birth. Thousands of small moments of being corrected, mocked or left out settle into an expectation, and expectations can be worked with. It also explains why being told nobody is judging you falls flat until somebody first acknowledges that, back then, people were.

Qur’an and Sunnah

Do not use offensive nicknames for one another (Quran 49:11). The small names that stick to a child are treated there as a serious wrong, not as harmless teasing.

Believers, no one group of men should jeer at another, who may after all be better than them; no one group of women should jeer at another, who may after all be better than them; do not speak ill of one another; do not use offensive nicknames for one another. How bad it is to be called a mischief-maker after accepting faith! Those who do not repent of this behaviour are evildoers

What the research says

A cognitive behavioural account of adult ADHD argues that treatment has to address the long accumulation of negative life outcomes and underachievement, not only the core symptoms. That is a reasoned clinical position drawn from the literature rather than a trial result. It matches what people describe when asked: the history is a large part of what needs attention.

Strength of evidence: one line of research. A single study, or a theoretical account.

Why it works

A belief built out of real experience needs its history acknowledged before it will loosen.

This one is still a draft. It is waiting on a scholar and a clinician to read it before it is published.
