If a child is climbing the walls, green space helps most, a walk down a busy street helps a bit, and staying in the room helps least. Any of the three beats none.
The research on this puts them in that order rather than saying only a forest will do. A park, a scruffy playing field, the bit of grass behind the flats, all of it does something. On a day when the park is out of reach, the pavement is still better than the sofa. Twenty minutes is a reasonable ambition.
Qur’an and Sunnah
Travel throughout the earth and see how He brings life into being (Quran 29:20). Going out and looking at living things is treated as its own kind of learning.
Say, ‘Travel throughout the earth and see how He brings life into being: and He will bring the next life into being. God has power over all things

What the research says
A systematic review and meta-analysis in children and adolescents found more physical activity going with better mental health and more sedentary time with worse. That evidence is largely observational, so it shows a pattern rather than proving what causes what. It sits comfortably alongside the ordering above without being able to confirm it.

Strength of evidence: one line of research. A single study, or a theoretical account.
Why it works
Outdoor space asks less of the tired kind of attention and gives it a chance to refill.
This one is still a draft. It is waiting on a scholar and a clinician to read it before it is published.
Near this one
Children need to move before school, during it and after it. Keeping a child in at break until the work is finished takes the movement away from the very child whose finishing depended on it.
An hour a day of moving enough to warm you and shorten your breath. Keep a record of it, on a watch or on a scrap of paper, because meeting a number you can see turns out to be quietly satisfying.
Movement gives you back some willingness, not just some focus. The problem is often not that you cannot concentrate but that you cannot make yourself care enough to start.
