For a family stuck on whether to medicate at all, the comparison with diabetes often unlocks something. Nobody manages diabetes on diet alone, and nobody calls insulin a moral failure.
Offered gently it moves the question from what kind of parent am I towards what does this condition need. Played as a trump card it makes people defensive, so put it down and leave room for the objection. Some families need to say the fear out loud first: that the child will become someone else, that a label will follow them, that other people will judge. That is usually the conversation worth having.

Qur’an and Sunnah
'in which there is healing for people' (Quran 16:69) is said of a substance that comes out of a creature. Ordinary material remedies are part of God's provision rather than a rival to it.
ثُمَّ كُلِي مِن كُلِّ ٱلثَّمَرَٰتِ فَٱسۡلُكِي سُبُلَ رَبِّكِ ذُلُلࣰ اۚ يَخۡرُجُ مِنۢ بُطُونِهَا شَرَابࣱ مُّخۡتَلِفٌ أَلۡوَٰنُهُۥ فِيهِ شِفَآءࣱ لِّلنَّاسِۚ إِنَّ فِي ذَٰلِكَ لَأٓيَةࣰ لِّقَوۡمࣲ يَتَفَكَّرُونَ

What the research says
A systematic review of economic evaluations found ADHD medicines generally came out as cost-effective, with wide variation in the modelling assumptions behind that. Health systems are treating this as a condition worth managing properly, which is the same framing the comparison reaches for. It tells you nothing about how a particular child will respond.

Medication treats the attention difficulty. It does not teach reading, lift a depression, or repair a household that has been fighting for years.
