That locked design turned out to carry an unplanned kindness: a somewhat longer day, and for many teenagers and adults a softer start and a softer finish, with less jaw clenching and less of the ragged hour when it wears off.
The edges often matter more to the person taking the medicine than the peak does. If you dread the late afternoon drop, or notice your jaw aching by mid morning, report that as its own problem rather than filing it under the medicine not suiting you. Sometimes the answer is a different amphetamine product rather than leaving the class altogether.

Qur’an and Sunnah
'in which there is healing for people' (Quran 16:69). Healing is placed inside ordinary created things, and finding which form of it suits you is part of receiving it.
ثُمَّ كُلِي مِن كُلِّ ٱلثَّمَرَٰتِ فَٱسۡلُكِي سُبُلَ رَبِّكِ ذُلُلࣰ اۚ يَخۡرُجُ مِنۢ بُطُونِهَا شَرَابࣱ مُّخۡتَلِفٌ أَلۡوَٰنُهُۥ فِيهِ شِفَآءࣱ لِّلنَّاسِۚ إِنَّ فِي ذَٰلِكَ لَأٓيَةࣰ لِّقَوۡمࣲ يَتَفَكَّرُونَ

What the research says
Comparisons between these products are thinner than people expect. A meta analysis pooling double blind placebo controlled trials found amphetamine formulations somewhat more effective on average than methylphenidate in children and adolescents, while noting that direct head to head trials remain scarce. Averages across groups also say very little about which one suits one person, which is why trying it out across your own week still counts for something.

When a medicine seems to be underperforming, look at what else is in the room before reaching for a higher dose. Anxiety, low mood and a wrecked sleep pattern can each blunt a good response or imitate a poor one.
