Move just before the difficult task, not after it as a reward. Five minutes of skipping, stairs or running on the spot, then sit down to the thing.
The window straight after moving is when focus is at its best, so that is the bit worth spending on whatever you have been dreading. For a child, five minutes of jumping before homework can change what the next half hour is like for everybody. Keep it short enough that it does not become the new way of avoiding the task.
Qur’an and Sunnah
If you shake the trunk of the palm tree towards you, it will deliver fresh ripe dates (Quran 19:25). The physical effort comes first and what is needed follows it.
وَهُزِّيٓ إِلَيۡكِ بِجِذۡعِ ٱلنَّخۡلَةِ تُسَٰقِطۡ عَلَيۡكِ رُطَبࣰ ا جَنِيࣰّ ا

What the research says
In children and adolescents, a large systematic review found more physical activity going with better mental health and more sitting with worse. That evidence is largely observational and says nothing about when in the day the activity happened. The ordering advice here comes from clinical practice rather than from those studies.

Strength of evidence: one line of research. A single study, or a theoretical account.
Why it works
The sharpening from a burst of movement is strongest in the minutes just afterwards, so that is where the hard work should sit.
This one is still a draft. It is waiting on a scholar and a clinician to read it before it is published.
Near this one
Slow movement practices seem to help mood, sleep and the general hum of stress. Bringing that background level down often does more for your concentration than trying to concentrate harder.
Chasing the big hit is a trap. Aim for the quieter satisfaction you can have most weeks, because that is the one that lasts.
A hard walk or a run works a little like a small dose of something. Alertness up, mood up, for a while afterwards.
