When a death is filmed and passed around, some of the people who watch it are not all right afterwards, and a few are put in real danger by it. Ask what has been going round.
The question is simple enough. Has anything about someone dying gone round your school or your feed lately, and did you see it. Then ask how it left them and what they found themselves thinking about afterwards. It matters because a vivid death can move somebody who was already near the edge, and nobody offers this in a first appointment. Asking directly also tells them the subject is allowed in this room.
Qur’an and Sunnah
Turn away from them until they move on to another topic (Quran 6:68). Leaving a space that is doing harm is treated as the ordinary move rather than an overreaction.
When you come across people who speak with scorn about Our revelations, turn away from them until they move on to another topic. If Satan should make you forget, then, when you have remembered, do not sit with those who are doing wrong

What the research says
The evidence behind this library contains nothing on suicide contagion, so nothing here should be read as measuring it. The nearest work is a systematic review across 21 countries on social media use and its relation to health, sleep, body image and mood, synthesised narratively rather than statistically. The reason to ask comes from clinical caution and from long standing understanding of contagion offline, which is not the same as evidence from these studies.

Strength of evidence: one line of research. A single study, or a theoretical account.
Why it works
Seeing a death close up can make it feel more thinkable, particularly for someone already struggling.
When not to
If a young person has been shaken by a death they saw or heard about, treat the risk as live and get proper support involved rather than handling it alone.
This one is still a draft. It is waiting on a scholar and a clinician to read it before it is published.
Near this one
Plenty of people now describe attention that fails, memory that slips and a day sliced into fragments. That description on its own is not ADHD, and it is worth being careful before anyone hands over a label.
A ping about a parcel and a ping about your mother's health feel identical in the second before you look. Give that feeling a name, false urgency, and you get a little room.
The studies tying childhood screen hours to later attention problems are correlational. They cannot tell you which way the arrow points, and there is a very ordinary reading where it points the other way.
