Notice how often a forgotten job turns up in the shower, or halfway up a flight of stairs. That is not coincidence: when nothing is holding your attention, the things you meant to do float up.

Which means those minutes are quietly doing work, and filling every one of them with a phone takes the mechanism away. Keep something to capture with in reach for exactly this reason, because a thought that surfaces and is not written down within a minute usually goes again. The queue, the walk from the car, the two minutes by the kettle: that is working time, even though it does not feel like it.

Qur’an and Sunnah

Keep up the prayer so that you remember Me (Quran 20:14). The recurring pause is where remembering is placed, and it is not an accident that it is a break from everything else.

I am God; there is no god but Me. So worship Me and keep up the prayer so that you remember Me

What the research says

A meta analysis of mind wandering found that it rises with the demands of the task and varies reliably between people, and it is part of why an intention formed earlier is not there at the moment it is needed. Your mind travelling when nothing occupies it is the same phenomenon seen from the other side. Treating that as a retrieval opportunity is a fair extension of the picture rather than something the analysis set out to test.

Strength of evidence: one line of research. A single study, or a theoretical account.

Why it works

When attention is not being pulled outwards, weakly held intentions have room to surface.

This one is still a draft. It is waiting on a scholar and a clinician to read it before it is published.
