Put the demanding work where the energy is, not where the timetable happens to be convenient. Then alternate it with something they like, and break it up often.

Effort runs down fast, so an hour of hard work in one block will give you good minutes at the start and very little after. Cut it into shorter runs with something enjoyable between them and the same hour delivers much more. With teenagers, notice that their best stretch usually comes later than a younger child's, so a nine o'clock start on the hardest subject is asking them to work against their own body clock.

Qur’an and Sunnah

Perform the regular prayers in the period from the time the sun is past its zenith (Quran 17:78). The day has a shape of its own, and work sits better when it is placed inside it.

So perform the regular prayers in the period from the time the sun is past its zenith till the darkness of the night, and [recite] the Quran at dawn- dawn recitation is always witnessed––

What the research says

A review of the circadian system in ADHD reports delayed sleep phase disorder in roughly three quarters of children and adults with the condition, and argues that this shifted body clock belongs in the main picture of ADHD rather than at its edges. That backs the point about later peaks in adolescence. It is a narrative review rather than a trial, and it says nothing about which hour of the school day is best for maths.

Strength of evidence: one line of research. A single study, or a theoretical account.

Why it works

Concentration is a limited supply, so it goes further in short runs placed at the hours when there is more of it.

This one is still a draft. It is waiting on a scholar and a clinician to read it before it is published.
