When something hard lands, say it out loud: we will face this together.

Turn a my problem into an ours. Facing it as a team halves its weight.

Qur’an and Sunnah

The believers are protectors of one another (Qur'an 9:71). Facing trouble side by side is that mutual protection.

The believers, both men and women, support each other; they order what is right and forbid what is wrong; they keep up the prayer and pay the prescribed alms; they obey God and His Messenger. God will give His mercy to such people: God is almighty and wise

What the research says

Hardship isolates unless it is named as shared. Saying we will face this together turns two people bracing alone into a team, and lightens the load.

Johnson, S.M. (2019). Attachment Theory in Practice: Emotionally Focused Therapy with Individuals, Couples, and Families. Guilford

The originator's account of EFT as attachment-based practice.

Strength of evidence: one line of research. A single study, or a theoretical account.

Why it works

Framing hardship as shared strengthens the alliance and eases the load.

Where this sits: EFT (Emotionally Focused Therapy), attachment-based couple intervention.
