Carrying a lossStep 5 of 8

If the person who died was your child

This is put here rather than at the start of the course, deliberately, because reward is the wrong first thing to say to a parent whose child has died.

There are sound reports about the parent whose children die before reaching maturity, and about what is promised to them. They are real and they are a mercy, and this course will not hand them to you as a reason not to be sad, because they were never that.

There are also several reports on this subject that circulate widely and are graded weak, including the well known one about a miscarried child. Some of them are the most quoted texts you will be sent. We are not using them, and we are telling you that rather than quietly leaving them out, because being sent a beautiful hadith that turns out to be weak is its own small injury.

Nothing here is an answer to what you are carrying. The report is a promise, and it is not a reason to stop weeping.
