Three. Try again, and the feed

The pressure to try again usually starts before you have finished bleeding, and it comes from people who love you. It is meant as hope. It arrives as a request to stop grieving this one.

You are allowed to say not yet. You are allowed to say not yet without a timeline attached, and without offering a reason, and to the same person more than once.

If you are in treatment, there is a particular version of this where the next cycle becomes the only permitted subject and the last loss is never mentioned again by anybody. Naming that out loud to one person, once, changes it more than you would expect.

Then there is the feed. Announcements, scan photographs, gender reveals, and the arithmetic your brain does automatically about how far along you would have been. You have not become a bitter person. You have been handed a stream that is optimised to show you exactly the thing you cannot look at.

You do not have to delete anybody. Muting for a season is an ordinary thing to do and it is not a statement about anyone.
