The one that has to be rejected
Answer it in your head first.
Of all the things people say after a loss, this course singles out one as needing to be rejected outright rather than gently understood. Which one, and why that one?
That the loss happened because of something you did. Every other sentence in this lesson is clumsy comfort, and the useful response is to understand where it came from. That one is different, because it is a causal claim about your conduct made from an outcome by a person who has no way of knowing. It is not established, no course content should ever entertain it, and it lands on exactly the self blame that lesson two showed is already filling the explanatory gap.
