When it looks like trauma rather than sadness
For a large number of people the heaviest part is not the grief. It is the medical experience wrapped around it. The scan room. The words somebody used. A corridor. A machine. Being sent home to wait.
That pattern has a shape. Images that arrive uninvited, nightmares, jumping at things, avoiding anything connected, and a stretch of feeling flat and far away.
There is treatment for it and it works well. This course does not deliver it and will not, because doing it alone commonly goes wrong, and because what makes it work is a trained person setting the pace and watching what happens to you.
When you ask, use the words. Say that you are getting intrusive memories of the loss and ask specifically about trauma focused treatment. That sentence tends to get you to the right service.
