It can be worked on today. Recitation is available today, in your own house, from the sunnah. A doctor is available this week. Neither of those requires you to have settled the first question, and neither of them commits you to an answer to it.

Most of the harm in this whole area comes from one move, which is treating the second question as though it cannot be touched until the first one is settled. That is where the months go.
