Lesson 6 of 6
How to tell it has outgrown reading
No one announces a threshold. There are signs, and every one of them is about how your life is going rather than about how good a Muslim you are.
You have thought about ending your life, or you feel that nobody would notice if you were gone. That is not part of a pattern to be worked on. It is today.
Then: weeks rather than a bad week with nobody spoken to. Avoidance that is spreading and is driven by fear rather than preference. Not being able to leave the house. Drinking or using something to make company bearable, or to get through being alone. Isolation that started after something happened to you that you have not been able to say out loud.
None of these says anything about your faith. They are the markers any clinician would use.
