The rizq verses, in their own context
Whoever fears Allah, He will make for him a way out, and will provide for him from where he does not expect. That sits in the middle of Surah at-Talaq, surrounded by legal rulings on divorce, waiting periods, witnessing and maintenance. The taqwa in question is, in its immediate setting, keeping to those limits when a person is tempted to cut corners because they are afraid of what it will cost them. The classical commentators generalise the principle, which is legitimate. What it is not is a method for producing money, and it names no amount and no date.
There is no creature on earth but that its provision is upon Allah. What is guaranteed there is rizq, what sustains a creature. Not wealth, not a standard of living, and not delivery to the door without the creature moving.
In the heaven is your provision. This is the one most often photographed over money. The classical readings take the provision here to include the rain and what is decreed above, inside a passage about signs and the certainty of the promise. It is not about income.
And how many a creature carries not its own provision, Allah provides for it and for you. The setting is emigration, and it is addressed to believers who were afraid that leaving Mecca would mean destitution. It is aimed at fear that is blocking a right action. Read in context it pushes a frightened person to move, which is close to the opposite of how it usually gets deployed.
Qur’an and Sunnah
۞وَمَا مِن دَآبَّةࣲ فِي ٱلۡأَرۡضِ إِلَّا عَلَى ٱللَّهِ رِزۡقُهَا وَيَعۡلَمُ مُسۡتَقَرَّهَا وَمُسۡتَوۡدَعَهَاۚ كُلࣱّ فِي كِتَٰبࣲ مُّبِينࣲ
There is not a creature that moves on earth whose provision is not His concern. He knows where it lives and its [final] resting place: it is all [there] in a clear record
Qur’an 11:6
وَكَأَيِّن مِّن دَآبَّةࣲ لَّا تَحۡمِلُ رِزۡقَهَا ٱللَّهُ يَرۡزُقُهَا وَإِيَّاكُمۡۚ وَهُوَ ٱلسَّمِيعُ ٱلۡعَلِيمُ
How many are the creatures who do not store their sustenance! God sustains them and you: He alone is the All Hearing, the All Knowing
Qur’an 29:60
وَفِي ٱلسَّمَآءِ رِزۡقُكُمۡ وَمَا تُوعَدُونَ
in the sky is your sustenance and all that you are promised
Qur’an 51:22
فَإِذَا بَلَغۡنَ أَجَلَهُنَّ فَأَمۡسِكُوهُنَّ بِمَعۡرُوفٍ أَوۡ فَارِقُوهُنَّ بِمَعۡرُوفࣲ وَأَشۡهِدُواْ ذَوَيۡ عَدۡلࣲ مِّنكُمۡ وَأَقِيمُواْ ٱلشَّهَٰدَةَ لِلَّهِۚ ذَٰلِكُمۡ يُوعَظُ بِهِۦ مَن كَانَ يُؤۡمِنُ بِٱللَّهِ وَٱلۡيَوۡمِ ٱلۡأٓخِرِۚ وَمَن يَتَّقِ ٱللَّهَ يَجۡعَل لَّهُۥ مَخۡرَجࣰ ا
When they have completed their appointed term, either keep them honourably, or part with them honourably. Call two just witnesses from your people and establish witness for the sake of God. Anyone who believes in God and the Last Day should heed this: God will find a way out for those who are mindful of Him
Qur’an 65:2
وَيَرۡزُقۡهُ مِنۡ حَيۡثُ لَا يَحۡتَسِبُۚ وَمَن يَتَوَكَّلۡ عَلَى ٱللَّهِ فَهُوَ حَسۡبُهُۥٓۚ إِنَّ ٱللَّهَ بَٰلِغُ أَمۡرِهِۦۚ قَدۡ جَعَلَ ٱللَّهُ لِكُلِّ شَيۡءࣲ قَدۡرࣰ ا
and will provide for them from an unexpected source; God will be enough for those who put their trust in Him. God achieves His purpose; God has set a due measure for everything
