Why this one and not the obvious one
Answer it in your head first.
Most parents assume the answer is to learn to manage their own anger better. On the evidence in this lesson, why is noticing the wanted behaviour taught instead?
In the analysis of what parenting programmes contain, positive reinforcement and praise went with stronger effects, and teaching parents to regulate their own emotions did not show a significant association. That does not mean your anger is irrelevant, and lesson five is about what feeds it. It means the component with support behind it is the boring one that happens hours before the flashpoint, not the heroic one that happens during it.
