Two verses that get used the wrong way round

Both of these turn up constantly in Muslim writing on this subject, and both are being asked to do a job they were not written for. We are quoting them so that you can see what they actually say.

Qur’an and Sunnah

وَتَوَلَّىٰ عَنۡهُمۡ وَقَالَ يَٰٓأَسَفَىٰ عَلَىٰ يُوسُفَ وَٱبۡيَضَّتۡ عَيۡنَاهُ مِنَ ٱلۡحُزۡنِ فَهُوَ كَظِيمࣱ‏

and he turned away from them, saying, ‘Alas for Joseph!’ His eyes went white with grief and he was filled with sorrow

Qur’an 12:84

ٱلَّذِينَ ءَامَنُواْ وَتَطۡمَئِنُّ قُلُوبُهُم بِذِكۡرِ ٱللَّهِۗ أَلَا بِذِكۡرِ ٱللَّهِ تَطۡمَئِنُّ ٱلۡقُلُوبُ

those who have faith and whose hearts find peace in the remembrance of God- truly it is in the remembrance of God that hearts find peace

Qur’an 13:28

لَقَدۡ خَلَقۡنَا ٱلۡإِنسَٰنَ فِيٓ أَحۡسَنِ تَقۡوِيمࣲ‏

We create man in the finest state

Qur’an 95:4

ثُمَّ رَدَدۡنَٰهُ أَسۡفَلَ سَٰفِلِينَ

then reduce him to the lowest of the low
