Self compassion asks for something else

Self compassion is a different thing wearing a similar name, and the difference is the whole point. It does not require a verdict about yourself at all.

It has three parts. Speaking to yourself the way you would speak to somebody you liked, rather than the way you speak to yourself now. Recognising that falling short is a condition of being a person rather than a private defect in you. And seeing the feeling clearly without being swallowed by it.

The middle part is the one doing the work here. What comparison actually manufactures is not the belief that you are bad. It is the belief that you, alone, are behind.
