Most autistic people also meet the criteria for ADHD. The other direction is much thinner: only a small minority of people with ADHD meet the criteria for autism.
That is mostly arithmetic rather than mystery. ADHD is the more common of the two, so one overlap looks large from one side and small from the other. In practice it means an autism question is routine for someone already assessed as autistic, and not something every person with attention difficulties needs to chase. If the social side of life is hard in a way impulsiveness does not explain, that is when it becomes worth asking.
Qur’an and Sunnah
If you do not know, ask people who know the Scripture (Quran 21:7). Asking someone who genuinely knows is the ordinary route, and it applies just as much to a second question the first assessment was not built to answer.

What the research says
A clinical review puts autism at roughly 2.2 percent of adults, with recorded prevalence having risen substantially as recognition and diagnostic practice changed. A separate review of systematic reviews puts ADHD nearer 5 percent of children. Those different base rates are enough on their own to produce a lopsided overlap. Both numbers are estimates that shift between countries and methods, so use them for the shape of the thing rather than the decimal point.

Near this one
A child who grew up listening for a parent's seizure learns to keep half an ear on the room, and years later that can look a great deal like distractibility. Ask what they were listening out for as a child.
Ask for a number first, then go hunting for exceptions. How is today on a scale of one to ten, and when was it last higher than that?
It runs the other way as well. Among children referred for dyslexia, a sizeable minority also have ADHD and many have coordination difficulties too. Whatever is written on the referral, treat it as one part of the picture.
