Areas › Focus, starting, and ADHD › What ADHD actually is
Write out your real work history, every job, with why each one ended. In conversation people skip the short ones and the sackings, and that is precisely where the pattern lives.
Set it down as a list with dates rather than as a story. Then look for what repeats: bored after eight months, fell out with a manager, missed too many deadlines, left before being pushed. The pattern is not there to shame you. It tells you what to design around next time, and for a clinician it is far stronger evidence than a general sense of instability.

And in yourselves too, do you not see (Quran 51:21). Looking squarely at your own record is treated there as a thing worth doing.
وَفِيٓ أَنفُسِكُمۡۚ أَفَلَا تُبۡصِرُونَ
and in yourselves too, do you not see?––

What the research says
A review of adults presenting with other psychiatric problems notes that ADHD often goes unrecognised in them, partly because people do not see the traits in themselves. Not seeing your own pattern is the ordinary case rather than the exception. It is a narrative review, so it describes clinical experience rather than testing a structured job history.

Strength of evidence: one line of research. A single study, or a theoretical account.
Why it works
A written list shows a shape that memory smooths over.
This one is still a draft. It is waiting on a scholar and a clinician to read it before it is published.
Near this one
Relationships take a lot of the strain here, and the usual shape is one person quietly carrying all the planning while the other feels constantly told off. Both halves are worth naming out loud before resentment sets hard.
Many people who end up in trouble with the law have never had their ADHD recognised. Behaviour read as defiance can be the same difficulty with stopping and thinking ahead.
The name is a little misleading. What tends to be hard is not seeing or understanding a task, it is getting your brain to switch on for something it finds no reward in, and to switch off from something it loves.
