Driving is one long attention task with a very high cost of failure, so it is worth deliberately giving yourself more margin than you think you need.
In practice: phone out of reach and silent, route set before you move off, nothing to eat at the wheel, and no long drives on short sleep. If a passenger keeps up a conversation that pulls you off the road, it is fair to say so out loud. New drivers with ADHD usually want far more supervised hours than the legal minimum before going out alone.
Qur’an and Sunnah
It is God who brought you out of your mothers' wombs knowing nothing, and gave you hearing and sight and minds (Quran 16:78). Hearing, sight and mind are named there as given, and driving is one of the places worth guarding them carefully.
It is God who brought you out of your mothers’ wombs knowing nothing, and gave you hearing and sight and minds, so that you might be thankful

What the research says
A review of brain imaging in ADHD consistently finds reduced function across the network that supports attention and cognitive control. Driving leans on exactly that network for long stretches at a time. The review covers laboratory tasks rather than road safety, so it explains the vulnerability rather than measuring it on the road.

Why it works
Attention that dips for a second matters more here than in almost anything else you do in a day.
This one is still a draft. It is waiting on a scholar and a clinician to read it before it is published.
Near this one
Ask yourself two questions: how did I actually do, and what do I think I could have done. The gap between those two answers is real, and it is usually where the grief sits.
In any quiet practice, dhikr, prayer, sitting still, your mind will go. The practice is not staying put. It is noticing you have gone and coming back, however many times that turns out to be.
A forgotten item in a bag is not a plan. Rules that treat the presence of something as proof of intent fall hardest on people who cannot reliably remember what is in their pockets.
