Executive function scales ask how the week actually went. That is often more use than an afternoon of testing in a quiet room.
Office testing happens in the best conditions a person will ever meet: no interruptions, someone sitting with them, a clear finish line in sight. Ordinary life supplies none of that, which is how scores can look fine while the household falls apart. Since the diagnosis rests on impairment, and treatment has to change daily life, a measure of daily life carries more weight.

How can those who know be equal to those who do not know? (Quran 39:9). What is worth knowing here is how the person's week goes, not how they perform for an hour.

What the research says
Researchers developing a quality of life measure for adults with ADHD found symptoms tied to measurable impairment across areas of living, and built the instrument because symptom counts do not capture that. Their argument was that impact deserves measuring in its own right. It is a measure development study, so it shows this can be captured well rather than comparing it against neuropsychological testing.

Try not to ask why. If the person knew why, they would probably have sorted it out already, and the question tends to land like an accusation.
Some people simply cannot get a family history. Refugee journeys, destroyed records, closed adoptions, families that did not survive. That is a gap in the paperwork and not evidence against the diagnosis.
Two referrals turn up again and again. A young child being asked to leave a school for behaviour, with no developmental or cognitive information anywhere in the file. And a parent saying something is wrong while the school says everything is fine. Both are describing adult frustration rather than a formulation.
