For a small number of children the question was never about school reports. A toddler who runs into a road and keeps running, a child who climbs the pool fence: what is being weighed there is whether they stay alive.
Most decisions about treating a very young child are finely balanced and deserve to be taken slowly. Where the behaviour itself is life threatening, waiting stops being the neutral option and a long assessment queue becomes part of the danger. Say that plainly to whoever holds the waiting list, because urgency that is never described tends not to be heard.

Qur’an and Sunnah
God 'removed his suffering, and restored his family to him' (Quran 21:84). Relief from an affliction is described as something given, rather than something to be nobly declined.
فَٱسۡتَجَبۡنَا لَهُۥ فَكَشَفۡنَا مَا بِهِۦ مِن ضُرࣲّۖ وَءَاتَيۡنَٰهُ أَهۡلَهُۥ وَمِثۡلَهُم مَّعَهُمۡ رَحۡمَةࣰ مِّنۡ عِندِنَا وَذِكۡرَىٰ لِلۡعَٰبِدِينَ
We answered him, removed his suffering, and restored his family to him, along with more like them, as an act of grace from Us and a reminder for all who serve Us

What the research says
A review of large studies linking prescription records with other national registers associates ADHD medication with fewer injuries and accidents, among other outcomes. Those studies are not randomised and the authors are careful about what can be drawn from them. Injuries are still the outcome most relevant here, and the evidence points towards treatment reducing them rather than the reverse.

A synapse is three things rather than one: the end of the cell sending, the gap itself, and the surface of the cell receiving. Ask which of the three a drug acts on and most of its behaviour follows.
You will hear confident claims in both directions: that stimulants permanently rewire a child's brain, and that they leave nothing behind at all. The honest position sits between the two, and it helps to know which parts are settled.
No behavioural programme matches what medication does to the core symptoms. It is an uncomfortable sentence for anyone who would rather not medicate, and it is what the trials keep showing.
