No particular kind of movement wins. Balance work, martial arts, tai chi, swimming, all of it helps about as much, and what predicts the benefit is moving regularly at all.
This is good news, because it means you can stop researching and start doing. Pick whatever you have access to and will still be doing in a month. If someone tells you their method is the one that fixes attention, be a little sceptical. The choreography is not the medicine.
Qur’an and Sunnah
We have honoured the children of Adam and carried them by land and sea (Quran 17:70). Movement of every kind is placed inside the same honouring, without one form being singled out.
We have honoured the children of Adam and carried them by land and sea; We have provided good sustenance for them and favoured them specially above many of those We have created

What the research says
Randomised trials of resistance training, which looks nothing like cardio, produced a moderate reduction in depressive symptoms, and the reduction did not depend on whether strength actually improved. That is a fairly direct sign that quite different forms of movement can arrive at the same place. Those trials were in depression rather than attention, so read across with some care.

Strength of evidence: one line of research. A single study, or a theoretical account.
Why it works
The body's response to exertion is what does the work, and it does not care much which shapes you make.
This one is still a draft. It is waiting on a scholar and a clinician to read it before it is published.
Near this one
If a child is climbing the walls, green space helps most, a walk down a busy street helps a bit, and staying in the room helps least. Any of the three beats none.
Before you decide a club is out of reach, ask. Some let children earn the uniform through the levels, and plenty have quiet arrangements for families who need them.
Put music on. A faster tempo pulls your pace up without you deciding to, and the same effort feels lighter when there is something to listen to.
