A promising study can be very small. Thirteen teenagers, teachers doing the rating, and a fortnight of follow up is a good start and not a settled answer.
The clever part of that design is the follow up, because it asks whether anything survives after the classes stop, which is where a lot of attention training quietly fails. The weak parts are the tiny numbers and raters who knew who had been in the class. Both things are true at once. Treat it as a reason to try something, not as proof it works.
Qur’an and Sunnah
Make coats of chain mail and measure the links well (Quran 34:11). Doing careful work means checking the measurements, which is what reading a study properly amounts to.
saying, ‘Make coats of chain mail and measure the links well.’ ‘Do good, all of you, for I see everything you do.’

What the research says
A Cochrane review of exercise in children and young people found modest reductions in depression and anxiety, and was explicit that the trials were small and of variable quality. That is the honest state of this evidence in young people. Modest and uncertain is still worth something, as long as nobody sells it as more.

Strength of evidence: one line of research. A single study, or a theoretical account.
Why it works
A small study can show you where to look without being able to tell you what is true.
This one is still a draft. It is waiting on a scholar and a clinician to read it before it is published.
Near this one
When somebody does not take up the movement you suggested, ask what got in the way before deciding they did not want to. Usually it is money, childcare, transport or time.
Give a new habit two months rather than two weeks, and change one thing at a time. The old line about thirty days sets you up to feel like a failure on day thirty one.
Arrange to meet someone. A neighbour at the gate at eight, a friend expecting you, even an app counting a streak. Turning up for someone else is easier than turning up for yourself.
