When a treatment is described as approved, ask what it is approved for. Magnetic brain stimulation is licensed for depression, and using it for attention problems is off label.

Off label is not the same as forbidden or useless, and it does change three things: how much evidence stands behind it for your situation, what the conversation about consent should cover, and who is paying. Ask the clinic directly which condition the approval covers and what they can show you for yours. A good service will answer that without bristling.

Qur’an and Sunnah

The Qur'an is described as 'guidance and healing for those who have faith' (Quran 41:44), with the same verse noting others are not reached by it. Even the strongest claim of healing is made for particular people in particular conditions.

If We had made it a foreign Quran, they would have said, ‘If only its verses were clear! What? Foreign speech to an Arab?’ Say, ‘It is guidance and healing for those who have faith, but the ears of the disbelievers are heavy, they are blind to it, it is as if they are being called from a distant place.’

What the research says

A Cochrane review of non invasive approaches to wellbeing in lung cancer found insufficient evidence to recommend most of the complementary methods examined, even though several are well regarded elsewhere. Evidence really does not carry over from one condition to another. That review is about complementary therapies rather than brain stimulation, and the principle is the same one.

Strength of evidence: one line of research. A single study, or a theoretical account.

Why it works

Evidence is gathered condition by condition, so approval does not travel with the machine.

This one is still a draft. It is waiting on a scholar and a clinician to read it before it is published.
