These medicines do not pour a foreign chemical into you. Mostly they help you hold on to the serotonin your body already makes, so whatever follows is yours.
The worry underneath is usually about authenticity: that any lift will be counterfeit, or that it will not really be you feeling it. Knowing that the drug slows the clearing away of something you already produce takes a good deal of the strangeness out of it. It also explains why the effect is not instant, since it leans on your own system rather than on a dose of borrowed feeling.

Qur’an and Sunnah
'in which there is healing for people' (Quran 16:69). Healing is placed inside ordinary created things, and that includes what your own body already makes.
ثُمَّ كُلِي مِن كُلِّ ٱلثَّمَرَٰتِ فَٱسۡلُكِي سُبُلَ رَبِّكِ ذُلُلࣰ اۚ يَخۡرُجُ مِنۢ بُطُونِهَا شَرَابࣱ مُّخۡتَلِفٌ أَلۡوَٰنُهُۥ فِيهِ شِفَآءࣱ لِّلنَّاسِۚ إِنَّ فِي ذَٰلِكَ لَأٓيَةࣰ لِّقَوۡمࣲ يَتَفَكَّرُونَ

What the research says
The nearest evidence sits in imaging work on stimulants. A systematic review and meta-analysis found they brought activity in particular frontal and striatal regions closer to typical levels during tasks calling for attention and inhibition. That is a different class of drug and a different measurement from the serotonin story. The shape is the same: what changes is how your own system runs.

Near this one
A long acting injection into muscle releases its medicine slowly over weeks. It lifts the daily burden of remembering, at the price of not being able to stop quickly if the medicine disagrees with you.
The stimulant shortage is not your pharmacy being disorganised. Regulators set a fixed annual quota of the raw material, and the ceiling has been too low to cover the prescriptions being written.
Blood pressure on a stimulant is an individual matter. For most people it is a non-event, and where it does rise the answer is often a different stimulant rather than none at all.
