How often you move matters more than how hard. Pick something you would still do on a mediocre Tuesday.

Big efforts on good days followed by nothing for a fortnight tend to average out at very little. Three easy sessions a week that you actually keep will beat one punishing session you dread. If you find yourself negotiating with the plan every single time, the plan is too big.

Qur’an and Sunnah

Go at a moderate pace (Quran 31:19). A moderate pace is the one prescribed, and it happens to be the one you can keep.

Go at a moderate pace and lower your voice, for the ugliest of all voices is the braying of asses.’

What the research says

A review of physical activity and health that sets out the downsides as well as the gains names injury, disordered eating and burnout among the real risks of pushing hard. It is a narrative review rather than a pooled analysis, so treat it as a considered overview and not a measurement. The caution still stands: harm tends to show up at the heroic end, not at the steady end.

Strength of evidence: one line of research. A single study, or a theoretical account.

Why it works

Benefit builds up through repetition, so the version you repeat is the version that counts.

This one is still a draft. It is waiting on a scholar and a clinician to read it before it is published.
