Rest one hand on your forehead and the other on your chest. After a few minutes, move the forehead hand down to your belly. Eyes open or closed, whichever you prefer.
Again the instruction is only to notice what goes on between the two hands. That noticing is quietly the training: it is body awareness arriving through the back door, without anyone asking you to scan or search for anything. Both placements give you a felt edge to your body, which is worth a great deal when you feel scattered or slightly unreal.

and setting firm mountains in it (Quran 79:32). Something with weight, placed deliberately, is what stops the ground moving, and two resting hands do a small version of that.

What the research says
A narrative review of how the amygdala and the prefrontal cortex talk to each other during fear learning and its regulation gives a decent picture of what settling looks like at the level of circuits. It is background rather than evidence for this particular exercise. Take the hand placements as something to test on yourself, with a plausible story behind them and no trial to point to.

Strength of evidence: one line of research. A single study, or a theoretical account.
Why it works
Two hands resting at once give the body a clear outline, which is steadying when you feel vague or far away.
This one is still a draft. It is waiting on a scholar and a clinician to read it before it is published.
Near this one
Say it plainly whenever you teach anything: the way I am showing you this is not the way it has to be done. Change it until it works for you.
If you have spent thirty years being told you are careless, lazy or too much, no attention technique will touch that. Kindness practice, aimed at yourself, is the part that does.
