Some people end up fully flipped, awake until three in the morning and unable to surface until evening. That is genuinely hard to reset, and not for want of trying.
Ordinary sleep advice is not built for this. What tends to be needed is help with timing: light at the right hour, a plan to move the whole cycle in stages, sometimes medical input. A run of failed attempts at going to bed earlier is not evidence that you do not want to change.
Qur’an and Sunnah
'Among His signs are your sleep, by night and by day' (Quran 30:23). Sleep at either end of the clock is put in the same category, which is a kinder frame than laziness.

What the research says
A meta-analysis of randomised trials found interventions that improved sleep also improved mental health, with the size of the mental health gain tracking the size of the sleep improvement. That is a good reason to treat this as worth real help rather than something to endure. Those trials mostly concerned insomnia treatment in general rather than fully reversed cycles.

Strength of evidence: one line of research. A single study, or a theoretical account.
Why it works
A rhythm that has moved this far has to be shifted deliberately rather than willed back into place.
When not to
Getting a flipped cycle back usually needs a doctor or a sleep service, and that is a reasonable thing to ask for.

Being the baby who never cried is not the same as being secure. It can mean you learned very early that nobody was coming.
A regular sitting practice is training rather than a treat. What you practise when things are calm is what your body can find when they are not.
The tools that slow things down mostly use your head: naming what is happening, standing back a little, putting the distress at arm's length for now.
