Where to go, and the honest bit about the numbers

If you are frightened, or if anything involves force, threats, your passport, or a marriage you are being pushed into, the course called When home is not safe is the right one, and it points at services rather than at lessons.

Forced marriage and harm carried out in the name of the family's honour need a service that specifically handles that. A general counselling line is the wrong door, and the difference matters a great deal. In the United Kingdom there are organisations that do exactly this work, and there is a government unit for forced marriage. There are Muslim specific helplines in Britain, Canada and the United States, and international directories that list services country by country.

We are not printing telephone numbers here. Not one of the numbers in our source file was confirmed as currently working, and a wrong number on a page like this is worse than no number. Find them through a live directory, and check them before you rely on them.
