Rejection sensitivity is something clinicians see often in ADHD, and it is not a diagnosis in any manual. It can describe what happens to you accurately without being a label anyone can write in your notes.

The experience is real enough: a look, a short reply or an unanswered message lands like a verdict and takes hours to shake off. Held as a description of a pattern, the term is useful. Held as a diagnosis you found online, it can quietly close down other explanations that matter, so bring it to whoever you see as something to look at together rather than as a conclusion.

Qur’an and Sunnah

We know what his soul whispers to him (Quran 50:16). What goes on inwardly is fully known even when no manual has a name for it.

We created man––We know what his soul whispers to him: We are closer to him than his jugular vein––

What the research says

A meta-analytic review of seventy five studies found rejection sensitivity is moderately associated with depression, anxiety and loneliness. Moderately is worth saying out loud, since that is a real and repeated association rather than a one to one match. These studies measure how it travels alongside distress, not that one produces the other.

Strength of evidence: one line of research. A single study, or a theoretical account.

Why it works

A good description helps you catch the pattern early, while a wrong label stops you looking any further.

When not to

A term you found on social media is a starting point for a conversation with a clinician, not a substitute for one.

This one is still a draft. It is waiting on a scholar and a clinician to read it before it is published.
