Learn the family rather than the members. If you know roughly how one drug in a class behaves, you already know most of what the others will do.
The medicines people are most often on collapse into a handful of families. A new arrival is usually a variation inside one of them, and occasionally something genuinely different, and that second group is small enough to learn one at a time. It is a fair way to keep up without reading everything, and a fair way to notice when a product is being sold as more novel than it is.
This explains how treatments work. Never start, stop or change a medication because of something you read here.
Qur’an and Sunnah
'God wants ease for you, not hardship' (Quran 2:185). Learning by family rather than one by one is a lighter road to the same place.
شَهۡرُ رَمَضَانَ ٱلَّذِيٓ أُنزِلَ فِيهِ ٱلۡقُرۡءَانُ هُدࣰ ى لِّلنَّاسِ وَبَيِّنَٰتࣲ مِّنَ ٱلۡهُدَىٰ وَٱلۡفُرۡقَانِۚ فَمَن شَهِدَ مِنكُمُ ٱلشَّهۡرَ فَلۡيَصُمۡهُۖ وَمَن كَانَ مَرِيضًا أَوۡ عَلَىٰ سَفَرࣲ فَعِدَّةࣱ مِّنۡ أَيَّامٍ أُخَرَۗ يُرِيدُ ٱللَّهُ بِكُمُ ٱلۡيُسۡرَ وَلَا يُرِيدُ بِكُمُ ٱلۡعُسۡرَ وَلِتُكۡمِلُواْ ٱلۡعِدَّةَ وَلِتُكَبِّرُواْ ٱللَّهَ عَلَىٰ مَا هَدَىٰكُمۡ وَلَعَلَّكُمۡ تَشۡكُرُونَ
It was in the month of Ramadan that the Quran was revealed as guidance for mankind, clear messages giving guidance and distinguishing between right and wrong. So any one of you who is present that month should fast, and anyone who is ill or on a journey should make up for the lost days by fasting on other days later. God wants ease for you, not hardship. He wants you to complete the prescribed period and to glorify Him for having guided you, so that you may be thankful

What the research says
A review of drug treatment in adults describes the field in exactly those terms: stimulant effect sizes come close to those seen in school aged children when doses are adequate, with atomoxetine and bupropion as second line options. The organisation there is by class and position rather than by brand. That is how the useful comparisons actually get made.

Drugs in a class share a mechanism, so most of what you learn about one carries over to the rest.

The medicine can help you focus. It will not make you want to study. Those are two different jobs and only one of them comes in a tablet.
Before anyone concludes that medication does not work for you, check what dose was actually reached. Doses in general practice often stay lower than a specialist would use, and a fair share of so called non responders respond once the dose goes up.
A workable rule for anything new: do not be the first to use it, and do not be the last either. Both ends carry a cost.
