Waiting to see how they get on carries a cost that is easy to miss. Every year a child spends behind narrows what is available to them the year after.
Treatment does not settle a life. What happens is that school reports, friendships and confidence build on one another, so a stretch of doing better opens doors that then stay open. Where the difficulty is clear and the assessment has been done properly, delay is a decision with consequences of its own. It deserves to be weighed as one rather than treated as the cautious option.

Qur’an and Sunnah
God 'removed his suffering, and restored his family to him, along with more like them' (Quran 21:84). Relief arriving with more alongside it is the shape of what timely help can do.

What the research says
Eighteen months after a large adult trial finished, the improvements from methylphenidate and from psychotherapy were largely maintained, so gains are not simply handed back when a study stops. That is an adult sample over a year and a half rather than a childhood followed into adulthood, and longer follow-ups have been less encouraging. Hold it as a reason not to delay rather than a promise about how life turns out.

Half the useful health information arrives sideways. Someone says 'I am so tired' on the way into another subject, and that is an opening worth taking gently.
Licences start at six years old, and that number comes from how trials have to be run rather than from a safety finding. Younger children do get treated where the case is strong.
For a small number of children the question was never about school reports. A toddler who runs into a road and keeps running, a child who climbs the pool fence: what is being weighed there is whether they stay alive.
